My style has always leant itself to kids illustrations, picture books, character designs, and lately party invitations.
This piece was created before the first movie was released so I had the good fortune of designing these characters unencumbered by the studio’s casting decisions. Some of my shots in the dark wound up near the mark after all.
This was an illustration highlighting various genres of literature on sale for the holidays. Of note: Our cat Mazzeo asleep on an ottoman, the stained glass lamp that still sits in our living room, Fabio basking in the glow of a romance novel, Scrooge hoarding his book away, the smell of a fresh baked cookbook, JRR Tolkein’s signature/logo on the floating fantasy novel, and the pipe smoking academic is wearing saddle shoes I wore in high school (I swear it was a thing).
